Easter

I'm a little slow posting our Easter pictures but I'm just glad I got around to it. We had a great time celebrating this year. We went up to Brad and Jaime's house for dinner and an easter egg hunt.

This is Addie meeting the Easter Bunny at the mall. She wasn't too sure about the Easter Bunny until she learned that he brings candy. I realized right before we went to the mall that Addie didn't have a clue about the Easter Bunny. I felt bad that Easter snuck up on us so quick this year I really hadn't explained too much to her about the holiday. Now she's all caught up.
This is Addie and Nick decorating easter eggs. I think we could have done without this but what's easter without decorating your own eggs. And Addie loved it. I just don't think her dad did. . . he got to hear what I hear all day long "I do it. I do it!"
This is Addie in our backyard with her easter dress on right before we went to church. She looked adorable. But I realized quickly after we got to church why I shouldn't have bought a white dress - she had already drooled her jelly beans down the front of her before church even started. Oh well, at least it came out.
This is at Brad and Jaime's after the easter egg hunt. She was pretty excited. I think she only ate candy the entire day. She was in heaven. Thanks Brad and Jaime for a good time. Addie had a blast.

Match Day!

So yesterday was the big Match Day for all 4th year medical students across the country. On Monday, we found out that Nick had officially matched into an orthopedic surgery residency program which was a huge relief and I was really proud of him. But we had to wait until Thursday to find out where we would be spending the next 5 years.

Wake Forest has all of the 4th year students come to the mail room and check their mailboxes at the same time. This is us anxiously waiting for them to let Nick in.
This is Nick opening the letter to find out that we will be spending the next 5 years in Erie, Pennsylvania where he'll do residency at Hamot Medical Center. Nick said it felt a little like opening his mission call. But like my sister Debbie said, at least he gets to bring his wife and kids with him this time. Although it is for 5 years instead of 2. There's always trade offs. After the shock wore off and I was able to find out a little more about Erie, we are really excited to move there. It seems like a great area. . . I'm just a little use to North Carolina winters and I'm a little afraid to experience the Erie winters. You wouldn't know that I grew up in Utah.

Let's Go Fly A Kite. . .

Up to the highest heights. Okay, if you can believe this Nick has never heard that song. How do you make it to 29 and never watch Mary Poppins?! Can we say deprived! But that's a whole other issue. We don't agree on Disney movies at all. He would like Addie to watch movies like the Fox and the Hound (in his words "that's my favorite!). No thanks. And when we watched Bambi he let her know that he's like the hunter that kills Bambi's mom. Can we say emotional scars.

Anyway, we had a really windy day today that was perfect for flying kites. So we ran to the store and got Addie the best $1 Nemo kite around. She loved it.

Am I Pregnant Or What?!

Okay, so I learned the hard way that my flip video is different from my digital camera. I took this video of Addie thinking that I could flip the picture later not remembering that I was taking a video and you can't rotate a video. It's a cute video but you may have to watch it laying down. Oops! Hopefully I'll remember this the next time I try to video the wrong way.

Shake it all about

If there's one thing we do love in our house, that is Elmo and the Hokey Pokey. Elmo is almost as popular as Cinderella. Addie loves to bring Elmo out and dance, dance, dance. She's getting pretty good at shaking it all about. She must get that from her dad.

Yea, I figured it out!

Okay, so I just finished loading my first video that actually worked. But I did it under a draft that I had saved a little over a week ago. So you'll have to scroll down to see it. It's from Addie's birthday. Now that I know how to do it, I'll have to add a few more videos in the next couple of days.

Oh, we're in so much TROUBLE!

Addie's cousins, Jordan and Austin, got an awesome motorized truck from Grandma Dow for Christmas. Addie had a blast when we went to visit on Christmas day. The only problem is that she spent the majority of the time in the passenger seat checking herself out in the mirror and changing the radio station (yes, the radio actually works). So when it was her turn to drive, she didn't have a clue as to what she was suppose to do. If you watch closely, you can even see her trying to shift gears. She gives women drivers a bad name. We're going to have to invest in some good insurance. But at least she looks cute doing it. She cracks me up.

Her cousin Jordan was even nice enough to sit in the back and let her drive. . . until she dumped him. I don't think he'll ever make that mistake again.
